Actions to change the World:

Decline plastic bags whenever possible....Why?....Every person in the UK uses up to 134 plastic bags every year......That's 8 billion bags altogether, all sitting in huge landfill sites producing tons of methane gas.......and methane gas contributes to global warming........If you consider a plastic bag can take up to 500 years to decay, you realise that: 'Houston, we've got a problem!'......Well, there is an alternative.....It's called a shopping bag!......Take one next time you go shopping and help to save the planet.....ends

If you are feeling mildly guilty that you aren't doing enough to save the planet, try doing one or two things from this list of 50 things.

The Internet Traffic Report monitors the flow of data around the world. It then displays a value between zero and 100. Higher values indicate faster and more reliable connections.

Welcome to the home page of the Worlds End Association

WEA is a non-political organisation, run by an elected committee of residents who serve on a voluntary basis.  The Association's aim is to foster a sense of community among residents, by working to retain and improve the area, particularly through liaison with local government.  WEA Constitution

The Association has been active for 22 years and current membership is 216 homes around 648 people. Members join by paying an annual subscription of five pounds with many making a donation of another pound or two.

Why you should join WEA:

We recognise that people are busy with their lives and being active in the local residents association is not at the top of their priority list.

But most people care about the area where they choose to live. They want to know what is going on in their locality, and whether they will be affected by any changes or developments. They also want to maintain and increase the value of their property which is directly affected by the state of the surrounding area.

This is where The Worlds End Association comes in. A committee of fellow residents monitor planning applications, liaise with local authorities, attend Local and County Council meetings,  lobby train companies, county highway authorities, police, report and remove graffiti and generally try to keep the locality from becoming tatty around the edges - which can happen quite easily.

This activity is reported to members in  newsletters , daily via this website and the AGM in March. All you have to do, is join up and be ready to give support when important issues arise, when being organised together gets things done. Your subscription money helps to offset the costs of hosting this website, printing and posting the newsletter.  All time is given voluntarily by committee members.

Do you want to do a bit more?

We are looking for help in particular areas, so if you would like to support your locality through your Association, talk with the Secretary, Geoff Holbrook - 243305 or Chairman, Denis Jones - 235829, who will explain how a small contribution of your time can make a  difference.

You do not have to join the committee but just provide specialist advice and help - of the following types:

  • surveying

  • legal

  • environment

  • web site design

  • journalism

  • enthusiasm
